Beauty of Marriage - Mahar and Walimatul 'urs


One of the obligations that must be given a husband to his wife is a dowry. Mahar is a treasure that must be delivered to his wife because the husband because the marriage contract. Allaah says (which means),

"Then the wives who have you enjoyed (interfere) in between them, give them her dowry (to perfection), as an obligation" (QS. An-Nisa: 24).

As for the value of the dowry, then there is no minimum or maximum limit value of a dowry. The rule is anything that legitimately used as a means of buying and selling or leasing means of payment, then it is legitimate to be used as a dowry.

After the implementation of the marriage ceremony is recommended (according to the majority of scholars) to hold walimah, foods that are served to guests for a wedding. As word of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam to' Abdurrahman bin 'Auf newly married,

"Hold walimah albeit with a goat" (HR. Bukhari and Muslim).

May Allah Almighty give us the righteous and shalihah couples, the cause gain happiness in this world and hereafter.
